Aluminium Billet Heating Furnaces
These furnaces heat aluminium billets/ingots to temperatures of up to 400–450 °C prior to extrusion. The billets, loaded into the furnace from the loading table, are first heated to approximately 250 °C in the preheating section by the recirculation of flue gases via circulation fans. They are then heated to 450 °C in the main heating section using PLC-controlled proportional premix nozzle burners. The furnace temperature is measured in 3–4 zones, depending on the furnace capacity, using thermocouples in direct contact with the billet surface. Once the billet has reached the desired temperature at the furnace outlet, the furnace door is opened and the hot billet is transferred to the press. All temperature and motion controls within the furnace, as well as communication with the press, are managed via the PLC.
Low-thermal-mass insulation materials and refractory cast blocks are used inside the furnace. Movement within the furnace is facilitated by a stainless steel roller conveyor in the high-temperature zones. These natural gas/LPG-fired furnaces are highly efficient due to their heating system. The flue gas outlet temperature is very low.
These highly efficient furnaces enable the business to achieve significant energy savings and ensure that the furnace pays for itself within a short period.
