Walking Beam Furnaces
Walking Beam Furnaces
Walking Beam Furnaces are industrial heat treatment systems developed for the controlled heating of high tonnage and long metal products on a continuous production line. Thanks to the walking beam mechanism, workpieces move through the furnace in predetermined increments without coming into contact with one another. This transport principle enhances temperature uniformity, prevents surface deformation, and ensures that product quality is maintained at the same level for every part.
Walking Beam Furnaces designed by Acar Teknolojik Sistemler are custom-engineered to meet the production needs of iron and steel, forging, rolling, pipe, profile, and heavy industry facilities. An optimal furnace design is created for each facility by taking into account production capacity, product geometry, process duration, and target temperature values. This allows for both high production efficiency and low energy consumption within the same system.
Thanks to the controlled temperature zones created within the furnace, the material is gradually brought to the desired temperature throughout the process. Homogeneous heat distribution ensures that the desired metallurgical properties are achieved in applications such as annealing, normalizing, stress relief, pre-forging heating, and pre-rolling heating. The moving-floor system allows for the safe transport of heavy and large-section parts while minimizing the risk of mechanical marks and deformation on the product.
The heating system can be designed to run on electricity or natural gas; energy losses are significantly reduced thanks to high-efficiency burners, recuperative combustion technologies, and advanced refractory insulation.
A PLC based automation system precisely controls temperature, product feed rate, dwell times, and all process parameters. Recipes can be created via the touchscreen operator panel, process data can be logged, and production processes can be monitored and reported in real time through optional SCADA integration.
