Atmosphere Controlled Brazing Furnaces

Brazing furnace operates at 1200°C under a controlled protective atmosphere. One of the most important factors directly affecting soldering quality is the control of the protective atmosphere. Before the heating process begins, the furnace chamber is purged with nitrogen (N₂) to remove oxygen from the environment. Hydrogen (H₂) is then introduced to create a reducing atmosphere. This prevents oxide formation on metal surfaces, improves the fluidity of the brazing alloy, and results in high quality, clean joints.

Acar Teknolojik Sistemler also designs and manufactures Ammonia Cracker Generator systems which supply the nitrogen and hydrogen gases required for the protective atmosphere using its own engineering infrastructure.

After the brazing process is complete, the parts can be cooled in a controlled manner depending on process requirements, or they can be transferred directly to an annealing furnace to complete the heat treatment process.

Hard brazing is a joining method in which metals of the same or different types are joined without melting them under a heat source. Instead, an additional metal (brazing alloy) that melts at temperatures above 450°C is used; as this additional metal spreads and wets the joint gap, a metallurgical bond forms between the metals to be joined and the additional metal.

In the brazing process, the formation of the metallurgical bond between the metals to be joined and the filler metal occurs through the transfer of atoms, a process known as diffusion. To ensure this bond is strong, a protective atmosphere is used to facilitate the transfer and remove unwanted elements from the joint area.

The brazing method is widely used in many fields of today’s industry.

The reason for this is that

parts joined by brazing have high strength; in fact, joints can be created that are even stronger than the metal being joined.

In parts joined by brazing, the joint is resistant to impact and vibration.

It is economical.

In these furnaces we manufactured for Middle East Technical University (METU/ODTU), the brazing heat treatment of printing blades is performed.
